Step 4: Move into Group Equipment Classes
Once you’ve completed your intro path and feel ready, you’ll be able to join:
Fundamentals - Fundamentals classes are for clients who know the basic equipment setup and are ready to refine technique. You’ll focus on body mechanics, spring control, and precise movement patterns while gradually adding new exercises. This level strengthens the mind-body connection so you move with confidence, control, and clarity.
Open Level - Open Level classes are for clients who are confident with equipment setup and can transition between exercises efficiently. You’ll be guided through full movement patterns with continued coaching on precision and spring control, while also incorporating more intermediate exercises as your body is ready. This mixed-level environment allows newer progressing clients to learn from those with more experience, all while challenging the entire group safely and intelligently.
Stretch + Strengthen - Stretch & Strengthen classes move at a slightly slower pace and focus on the Tower, Spine Corrector, and Chair. You’ll build strength and control through supported shapes that help create length and better alignment. This focused spring work trains your body and mind to connect more deeply — so when you return to the Reformer and Mat, your movement feels stronger, smarter, and more efficient.
NEW CLIENT 3-pack of private sessions. This package allows you to gain a solid understanding of the Pilates method, regardless of your fitness level. It sets you up for success in group classes by eliminating the initial uncertainty about how to use equipment such as the footbar, push-through bar, or how to adjust the springs on the chair. After these sessions, the instructor will recommend either fundamental or open-level classes, to help you transition smoothly into group sessions. We also encourage all clients to continue with a private session if it works for your schedule, This way you can build your practice at your own pace and utilize the additional equipment that is only available for one on one training. This pack expires in one month but we advise booking all 3 sessions within 2 weeks. If you do not see a time that works for your schedule on the Personal Training tab calendar you can email us with requests info@simpleformpilates.com.
Once joining equipment group classes we recommend attending at least twice a week to effectively learn the exercises and flow of the class. Your frequency of practice at the studio will influence your progression through the levels. Some clients may only attend once a week and remain in the fundamentals group for an extended period, which is perfectly fine, as we continuously fine-tune and build upon their practice as needed. Others who attend 3-4 times a week may progress at a faster pace. There is no set timeline for progression, as various factors contribute to each individual's journey
As the group progresses, the instructor will gradually introduce intermediate exercises into the fundamental classes. If the same clients stay within the same group, we will adapt and advance the class to match the group's development.
*Participation in intermediate classes requires prior approval from the instructor. If you have not previously worked with us, we kindly ask that you refrain from booking these classes.
*If you are pregnant or early postpartum, it is important to inform us so we can provide the best guidance for your practice. We recommend booking private sessions to create a customized Pilates routine that supports you through pregnancy and postpartum recovery. If you prefer to stay in group classes, we suggest a few private sessions to learn the necessary modifications as your pregnancy progresses. If you have not previously practiced Pilates with us, we ask that you wait until after childbirth to begin your Pilates journey. It is crucial to have a solid understanding of the method before pregnancy to ensure a safe and effective progression for your body.
